2nd book responce BLOG STYLE

hey guys. my loyal readers. i mean spencer. haha

This book is just getting more and more weird but good. Its getting very intresting.

Some things that really stike me about the book, is its shock value. Every new developement is shocking, from Ruth's strange love affair with her father, to Hagar going crazy and to the 7 days. Crazy man. I am really starting to like this book. It is getting a whole lot more intresting than it was in the begining!

1st Book response BLOG STYLE

I think that this book, first of all is starting to get good, but it is also starting to get weird. I think I shall write about the first parts of the book and some parts that stumped me and I had to take notes, summeraize and re read before i understood.


On page 91 in Song Of Solomon, i had to do just that. First of all I took detailed notes on another sheet of paper for this entire section. But this page confused me a little and I had to the read the passage " She was the therd beer. Not the first one, which the throat recives with almost trearful gratitude; nor the second, that confirms and extends the pleasure of the first. But the third, the one you drink beacuse its there, beacuse it cant hurt, and beacuse what difference does it make?

At first I had no idea so I tried to imagine this. Like when you are thirsty and you finally get something to drink. But I still could not just imagine it, so I tried it (with soda, not beer hah) and I realized what he meant. The first is really great that you want another, so you have another and its pretty good, but then the third one's sitting in the fridge and looks tempting to you drink it beacuse its there. That method of trying something for myself helped me understand the meaning of the text.

Sunday October 14th

Today I did a lot of work on the script. I agree with Spencer when he said that a lot of our script was fluff and surface stuff with not much meat. So i did a script overhaul and changed mostly everthing. It was pretty cool. My dog layed with me the whole time though he was sleeping so he didnt do a whole lot. He really has a nicer life than me. hahah back to the project.

There was a time that I was really freaking out about this project. But now its really been going smothly. fuck now i jinxed it. But anyway its been going pretty well. The flash is almost done, the script is done and the interview is recoded. Now we just need to start getting pictures and start putting the film together. Thats what I am going to do now. Get pictures.

Arggggg. sometimes i swear i could kill my family. My sister mostly. She always gets what she wants and latly its been getting in the way of school.
She lost my calulator,
She aways makes me change computers if she has something saved on it, that I dont mind but.....
she cant cant cant EVER return the favor.
so last night (thursday)
I had to get out my laptop and email everything to it and work on there.
Yesterday I learned that our final draft of the script is due. shit. its not even close to being done.
Junoir is doing a lot better. He got what I was saying about the flash and redid it. It looks pretty good now. Now its my job to finish the script by monday. So it looks like I will have no life this weekend. poor me. dont you feel sorry for me?? hah.

argentina article

hey guys. i know that i dont have any readers other than my teachers , but hey lets not kill my dream. thanks. ANYWAYYYY. today in spencers class we read an article online. It had to be about Latin America and it had to be current. Savannah and i decided to share a computer and read the same article to save time. We read about a trial in Argentina about this priest and some other people who committed horrendous war crimes during the "dirty war" in the 70's and early 80's . This man collaborated with police at the time to kill, torture and kidnap so many people during that time. I think that it is sort of humorous that this man thought that he was out of the woods. I think that he thought because he was a priest he was above the law. hah. nobody is above the law. after 30 whole years he is finally is brought to justice. This just affirmes my belief that religious leaders think (most of the time) that they are all high and mighty. <3zzzz

Tuesday/ Wedsnday 9/10th

Tuesday and Wednesday I have worked on my Honduras report and my Water temperature report as well. OK a few things, I am really getting annoyed with partners that don't do shit. Its different when you tell them that you dont need any help, but when they don't do their work, dont come to school, then dont do something very very very simple that you ask them to do when they are at home and leave you to do the whole project and the presentation all by yourself!

Well the water presentation is going a little better. I have done the PP but dont think that its all there. Im worried a little about more chemical differentces in the presentation.

Monday Oct. 8th

So today was boring. I was tired and sorta feeling sick. We had a mexico meeting at lunch and I really wanted to have that time to work on my project in spencers. We need to record the script. and interview some kids at HTH for their opinion. Today I turned in the MLA thing for the chemisty. The presentation is on thursday and I really need to start work on that.

Saturday October 6th

So yester day was crazy at school! Everything was due and nothing was done. I was freaking out. I had to do my Geometers SketchPad, do my powerpoint for spenecer and other homework. It was 3:40 and I still had stuff to do so I just tried to hurry up and finish still I was 10 minutes late and my carpool was soooooo mad.

This weekend is jammed packed to.
I need to finish my powerpoint and do my sources for chemisty.
and I have my orientation at Hellen Woodward Animal Center.
anddddd on Sunday i have to get up at 5am. to go with Build A Miricle to mexico to build houses for people who have nothing but a cardbord box.

September 4 2007

Today we went on a feild trip to Balboa Park to see the Museums. To tell you the truth it was boring. We went to the maya exibit and the Copper age one too. boring. Then we eat lunch and wrote something for spencer. Then Anne showed us how to use the water quality testing kit.

Today was the first day i came back to school. I was sick over the weekend and I didnt go to school on Monday or Tuesday. We got our topic for our project yesterday Its: Does water temperature effect life.

Saturday 29th

So today was the interview and It was really hard to do it. I was really sick and not feeling good at all. I went home for a few hours after the LAN party beacuse i was sooo tired. I slept for a few hours and then dragged myself out of bed and my dad picked me up and took me down to Horten Plaza where I filmed and interviewed people.

The rest of the day was me sleeping.

Hey guys,

I'm going to write about friday and friday night. I am really sick right now with a sinus infection from friday. So it was the LAN party last night and it was horrible. I was so bored and tired and it wasnt fun. I have my interview the next day with Border Angles so i basically screwed. nothing to really write about exept that Junior and I got the project sheet for the chemisty project. We put which topics we wanted but we never found out what we got yet.

Sorry long time no blog. Today the flash was due and even though Junior told me that he had done it, it was mysteriously not done today. I'm getting really really worried about our expert. I have tried to email and call people but i am not getting responses.

Everything is pilling up.

Friday, Sept. 14.

TGIF. Today was so hard to concentrate. Especially in Spencers class. Its been a really hard week and I was so tired. But I talked to Spencer about our expert and next week. Junior was saposed to get 5 more web pages. But surprise surprise he didnt. This better not keep happeneing. Getting a little tired of it. ANYWAY (haha Laura)

Spencer had some good ideas for our expert. He said to put the guy on speaker and tape it. So i dont have to meet him in person. and I can be really bias and crap. But i need someone else that i can do on camera.

Thursday Sept. 13

hey guys. sorry got lazy this weekend to blog. So tonight I'm going to talk about last thursday, after my Aztec presentation. So on Thursday I was freaking out a little about our expert. I have the MM to tell Spencer tomarow but i really dont want to use him. He creeped me out. So I emailed a few more people, no replies yet. Wed Sept 12.

Today I had my Aztec presentation. It went really really well. SOOO glad its over so now I can focas on getting a new expert. So tonight I emailed a very intesce looking Immagrant rights group. Hope they get back to me by friday. I want to also do feild interviews. maybe that counts.

I hope that Juonor or however you spell it is doing what I asked him to though be proably isnt. I really don't want to do this whole project myself. But I said that I could handle it so I have to stick by my word and stick it out.

Tuesday 9/11

Wow typing in that in the title box was weird. Its 9/11 again. sad day. sad day. But why o why didnt are teachers do or even mention it in class on tuesday. weird.

ANYWAY. today i was scrambling to get my project done. Tuesday night I stayed up really late working on it but I think that I do some of my best work under pressure. I put the board together and I think it looks really good.

I havn't really been doing much on the big project latley.

Monday Sept. 10th

So after the schetchy email from the Minute Men i have to find a new person to interview. That is going to be hard since this week the mini project is due so I am working my butt off to get that done. So on monday night I worked more on my bowl for the mini project.

The bowl part came out OK but now I have to work on the stands. How the hell is little clay stands going to support my HUGELY heavy clay bowl . I also did more reasearch for the mini project. Got another good webiste.

very usefull for aztec people. It talks in greater deatial than other websites about their daily life, the education of children and econimics.

Getting sorta frustrated beacuse I am finding info that turns out to be from a "banned" website like infoplease.com! Can't someone make a free online encylopedia that cannot be edited but is kept up by like, say a pannel of doctors of profesionals in that given feild. We need a good source!!!!

Sunday Sept. 9

So on sunday I got an email back from someone named Jeff from the Minute Men. I got a really creepy vibe from it so I decided that I don't think that I want to interview them. First of all he emialed me at like 4 in the morning on Saturday and wanted me to call him Saturday afternoon. He seemed very very very wierd and I'm weirded out.

After that little episode I worked on my mini project creating my bowl pottery while watching Britney screw up at the VMA's. I Made the bowl and now I have to make the leg stands on the bottem.

So the deadline for the expert is comming up on our project and I am really getting worried and kinda mad. I thought that the Minute Men would be a great expert to interview. I have tried every form of communication but nobody over there seems to care. I was starting to get really worried. So I made a list of good other people we can interview.

1. The migrants themselves. (translater needed in some cases)
2. Civil rights groups.
3. residence that live near Migrant Camps
4. Politicians
and others that i cant remeber right now.

Aztecs

Yesterday I didnt really do any reserch for the mexico project. But I did do some on our mini project about the Aztecs. At school I printed out two web pages. One I read all the way though. It had useful history but kinda had stuffI didn't really need, like 2 whole pages on books about the Aztecs. http://www.indians.org/welker/aztec.htm
I think that this was a reliable source beacuse Spencer used it to get our creation myths and nothing was to far from the ordinary.


The second web page I found I read a lot less from. But it is from Washington University so it might be useful to other people who have the Aztecs for this project.

Research

So, todays tuesday. Yesterday I got a bunch of websites for the project. I got a lot of sites about newspaper articles from both sides. Some advocating immagrant rights and others bashing them.

One that I found paticularly intresting is the website for the San Diego Minute Men.

I gues they can justify it in their minds but people are just trying to survive. I also noticed that the group seemed shady to me. I mean the founders would not even put their full names on the page. weird. I also visited the main MM website for the whole country. On the side they have a counter that says " The Illigal Alien invasion countinues." Invasion. like people real people where ants or mice or something. There is even pictures of the Men rifeling though stuff
